Introduction

Dulse & Brose is a restaurant that captures the essence of Skye. Located in the heart of Portree, overlooking the bustling harbour, it's a place where the island's culinary traditions meet modern Scottish cuisine. The restaurant's name itself is a nod to Skye's heritage, with "dulse" referring to a type of seaweed traditionally eaten in Scotland, and "brose" a simple oatmeal porridge. But don't let the traditional names fool you – Dulse & Brose offers a dining experience that's both sophisticated and welcoming.

The restaurant recently underwent a stylish refurbishment, transforming it into a space that's both contemporary and cosy. Settle into one of the plush booths, the warm glow of the lighting creating an intimate atmosphere, as you peruse the menu. The chefs at Dulse & Brose are passionate about showcasing the finest Scottish produce, with a focus on fresh, local ingredients. Their seasonal menu changes regularly, reflecting the best of what Skye has to offer throughout the year. Expect dishes like Skye seafood platters, succulent steaks, and creative vegetarian options, all prepared with a modern twist. And for those with a sweet tooth, the desserts are simply divine.

Dulse & Brose is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. The adjoining Merchant Bar is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, with its impressive selection of whiskies, spirits, wines, and beers. And for a special occasion, enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail in the stylish wine bar before heading upstairs to the restaurant.

Dulse & Brose is open seven days a week, from 5pm to 9pm, making it a convenient option for both lunch and dinner. But be warned, this popular spot fills up quickly, so booking in advance is highly recommended.

  • The Skye seafood platter, a feast for the senses that showcases the island's freshest catches.
  • The Dulse & Brose lamb burger, a delicious twist on a classic with local flavours.
