A 1,025-metre Munro above Strath Fillan, near Crianlarich and Tyndrum, climbed from Kirkton Farm.

Welcome

Ben Challum is a big, solitary Munro of 1,025 metres standing above Strath Fillan, between Crianlarich and Tyndrum, on the northern edge of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.

From the strath it is a broad, grassy hill, and the usual climb is a long, steady plod up its slopes until the final ridge, where the character changes and the views open out down Strath Fillan and across to Ben More, Stob Binnein and Ben Lui.

Its finest shape is kept for the other side: seen from the head of Glen Lochay it stands up as a neat cone. The shortest route starts at Kirkton Farm in Strath Fillan and climbs the grassy slopes to the north-east. Walkers with energy to spare can link it with the Corbett Cam Chreag, though the slopes beyond the bealach between them are steep. It is a hill for a quiet day, without the crowds of its neighbours.
