Banchory – The Falls of Feugh and a Tasting Menu by the River
A few hours.
The route
Just south of Banchory, the Water of Feugh breaks white over its rocks by an old stone bridge.
Look at the falls from the footbridge, then walk round to Falls by Orry Shand, the restaurant on the bank beside them, for a long tasting-menu dinner.

The day
Feugh
A few minutes by the river as the evening comes on, then a long, slow dinner a short walk away.
About four hours

Falls of Feugh
An attraction
The falls are where the South Deeside Road crosses the Feugh, a short way above its meeting with the Dee. Leave the car in the Bridge of Feugh car park, just over the old bridge, and walk back to the footbridge beside it to watch the river come down through the rocks. From September to November, and again in February and March, the salmon leap the falls on their way upriver.

Falls by Orry Shand
Dinner
Falls by Orry Shand is two minutes' walk from the car park, on the same bank, in what was the Falls of Feugh restaurant; the chef Orry Shand opened it as Falls in July 2026. Nothing is chosen on the night: the kitchen sends out a seasonal tasting menu of 12 to 15 servings, with wine or soft drink pairings to add. Every table starts together, so be there for the start of your sitting. When the weather allows, the evening can end by the firepits on the terrace, with the river below.
If it rains
Dinner is all under a roof, so on a wet evening keep the look at the falls a short one.
