Strathtay – A Cookery Class at Ballintaggart Farm

A few hours.

The route

Ballintaggart Farm runs a cook school in its own kitchen in Strathtay, where you cook alongside its chefs.

The classes change with the seasons, from soups and stews to sourdough, pasta and Christmas canapés, and they suit beginners and keen cooks alike.

Before you go

  1. Book accommodation nearby

If you are staying over: here are ours nearest where the day starts and ends.

  2. Book Ballintaggart Cook School

Book on the Cook School's website; a class may need paying in full before the day.

The day

Strathtay

An afternoon at the stove in a farm kitchen in Strathtay.

  1. Ballintaggart

    Ballintaggart

    A shop

Ballintaggart Farm sits on a south-facing hillside just outside Balnaguard, and has its own car park. The Cook School is held in the farm's kitchen, and classes are kept small. Each one starts with the chefs showing how a dish is done, then you cook the dish yourself with a chef close by, and it ends with a late lunch, often of what you have just cooked. Aprons, equipment and ingredients are provided, and you go home with the recipes and what you have made, in the tubs you bring. Tell the farm about any diet when you book; it caters for dietary needs wherever it can. There is no level access to the farm buildings; ring 01887 447000 ahead and the farm will do its best to arrange another way in.

If it rains

All of it is indoors, in the farm kitchen.
