Matthew Bourne's The Car Man
Matthew Bourne has a gift for turning famous stories into dance, and The Car Man is one of his most loved.
Desperate Dan and Grand Theft Auto were both made in Dundee, and for ten days this November the Being Human Festival celebrates the stories behind them. From Thursday 5 to Saturday 14 November, the University of Dundee and Abertay University run ten events round the city, at Water's Edge on City Quay, the Little Theatre, Lost Galaxy Comic Shop and Dundee Central Library. You can join a walking tour past the places where the city's comics and games were made, finishing with a motion-capture demonstration at Abertay, or hear how Mary Shelley's time in Dundee may have fed into Frankenstein. Children aged 8 to 14 can make their own Dundee comic strips. Most events need booking ahead; the Gulliver's Travels exhibition at the Central Library is open to drop in.
