Signature Food Festival
Some of the UK's most celebrated chefs are heading north this November, and you don't need a trip to London to taste their cooking.
Matthew Bourne has a gift for turning famous stories into dance, and The Car Man is one of his most loved. His company New Adventures takes Bizet's Carmen out of Spain and drops it into a dusty 1950s garage-diner in the American Mid-West, where a stranger arrives in a small town and nothing is the same again. It's danced to a score by Terry Davies built round Shchedrin's Carmen Suite, so you'll know the tunes. The run is at the Festival Theatre on Nicolson Street from Tuesday 3 to Saturday 7 November, with evening shows at 7.30pm and matinees at 2.30pm on Thursday and Saturday. It lasts about two hours with an interval and is for ages 15 and over.
