The Oldest Golf Courses in Scotland

There's something special about playing a course where golf has been played for hundreds of years. Whether it's a links on the edge of an old town or one where the first championships were held, these are the places where the game's history is still out on the course.

Golf has been played in Scotland for some six hundred years, and some of the ground it was first played on is still in use today. On these links you're following in the footsteps of centuries of golfers, from townsfolk playing across common land to the professionals of the first championships.

The records go back a long way, to a boy learning the game in the 1560s, to golf written down in the early 1600s, and to clubs founded before the end of the eighteenth century. The courses have changed and grown over the years, but the ground and the spirit of the game are much as they were. Take a moment on the first tee, and then enjoy a round with a real sense of history.
