The Best Links in East Lothian

East Lothian has one links after another along the shore of the Forth. From championship courses to quiet members' clubs with a warm welcome for visitors, these are the links to play here.

Updated 24 September 2026. Across Lothian.

East Lothian is made for a golf trip. The links run one after another along the shore, so you can play a different course every day without moving hotel. It's an easy journey from Edinburgh by car or by train, too, which makes it just as good for a day out as for a week away.

The courses range from championship links that have hosted the Open to traditional members' clubs where visitors are welcomed on set days, and some ask you to book months ahead, so it's worth planning your week before you go. Pack a jacket and tie if you'd like to stay for lunch at the more traditional clubs, and leave time for a walk on the beach afterwards.
