Stirlingshire
Outlander's red gorge and Bond's cars.
Film fans have plenty to look for here. Outlander viewers will know Finnich Glen near Killearn, a deep, mossy gorge where the burn runs red past the rock called the Devil's Pulpit, which played St Ninian's Spring. In Bo'ness, a motor museum keeps film cars from James Bond to Harry Potter and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Loch Katrine, the setting of Scott's The Lady of the Lake, can still be toured on a steamship of 1899. Near Bridge of Allan, the university's Airthrey estate has a loch, woods and a Robert Adam castle. The sides of Finnich Glen are steep and slippery, so wear good boots and take care.
