Milngavie, Inverness and Aviemore on foot.

If you've ever wanted to walk across the Highlands, Fort William is the place to start or finish. Walk in from Milngavie by Loch Lomond, Rannoch Moor and Glencoe, and arrive in the town at the foot of Ben Nevis. Or set out along the Caledonian Canal to Loch Ness and Inverness, on good paths that leave you free to look around. A quieter route heads east by the beaches of Loch Laggan to Aviemore and the Cairngorms. These trips are organised for you, with a mountain leader on the West Highland Way and your bags carried ahead. Break in your boots before you go.

Her favourite walks climb Ben Laga behind Borradill, and follow the coast from Portuairk to the white sands of Sanna Beach. In midsummer it doesn't get dark until almost midnight, so a day out there is a long, golden one.
