Whisky by the sea.

Skye and Raasay make whisky full of the sea, smoky and salty and warming on a wild day. There's the island's oldest working distillery on the shore of a sea loch, a newer one in a restored farm steading looking across to the mainland hills, and another just over the water on Raasay in a Victorian villa. Most offer tours and tastings that are best booked ahead, especially in summer. If you're driving, ask about a dram to take home for later, and make an afternoon of it with lunch nearby.
