Scottish Borders

Tartan mills and village shops.

The Borders are famous for textiles, and you can still buy them where they are made. Visit a working tartan mill at Selkirk that weaves hundreds of tartans, or a cashmere maker's outlet in Hawick. Around them are lovely independent shops, from a bookshop, deli and homeware store in an old auction house at St Boswells to small Scandinavian-style shops in Kelso and Innerleithen. Leave room in the car for a blanket or two.

You are up to date.

That is everything for today. Tomorrow's first posts go up in the morning. Or have the best of it in your inbox each morning in the Daily.
