Scottish Borders

Hills above the Tweed.

The Borders are made for walking. Climb the three volcanic summits above Melrose, crowned by a great Iron Age hill fort, or stand where Sir Walter Scott paused so often that his horses stopped there by themselves. In the Moffat Hills, a whole glen is being returned to native woodland, and wild flowers and birds are coming back. Pack a waterproof and good boots, as the hills can be wet underfoot.

You are up to date.

That is everything for today. Tomorrow's first posts go up in the morning. Or have the best of it in your inbox each morning in the Daily.
