Aberdeenshire
Old inns by the harbour.
Aberdeenshire's inns have been feeding travellers for centuries. There's a riverside inn on the Dee where the drovers once stopped, an inn of 1771 at the edge of a harbour and a howff from the 1700s on the old harbour at Portsoy. In a village under the cliffs is the inn made famous by the film Local Hero. Most serve local ales, a good malt and hearty cooking. Book for dinner, as they're popular with locals too.
