Archaeologists from the University of Glasgow have uncovered stone tools on the Isle of Skye that date back more than 11,000 years, making it the most northerly Late Upper Palaeolithic site discovered in Britain.

Found near Camas Malag, the tools suggest hunter-gatherers reached this far north after the last Ice Age much earlier than was thought.

It’s a rare glimpse of life on Skye just after the ice, and of how early people spread across Scotland.
