The 44th Shetland Folk Festival takes place from 30 April to 3 May 2026, bringing together local and international musicians for four days of concerts, sessions, workshops and vibrant community gatherings across venues in Lerwick and beyond. Known as the UK’s northernmost folk festival, it showcases a dynamic mix of traditional Shetland tunes alongside music from visiting artists from around the world, celebrating rich island musical heritage and contemporary folk culture. Organised entirely by volunteers and beloved for its warm hospitality and spontaneous jam sessions, the festival culminates in “foy” concerts where multiple acts perform short sets in rotation across halls.
