The festival brings together around 40 visiting musicians and some 180 local players in concerts, ceilidhs, sessions and a tune competition, filling venues across Shetland with the pulse of accordion and fiddle music. It is the highlight of twelve months of musical life in the isles, with community halls, rural venues and Lerwick’s Islesburgh Community Centre hosting performances. The weekend culminates in the Grand Dance, where a dozen full-bodied dance bands lead an evening of traditional dancing at Clickimin Leisure Complex. Attendees can also enjoy informal sessions, a Youth Concert, and opportunities to join a ceilidh or dance along. The event remains rooted in shared culture, local craft and a love of live music.
