Aghaidh Ris An Achadh – Facing The Field
Taigh Chearsabhagh in Lochmaddy has given both of its galleries this winter to Aghaidh Ris An Achadh, Facing The Field, a show about what happens to a township when the people leave.

There are few better places to hear a piano than St Giles' Cathedral by candlelight, halfway up the Royal Mile. The Royal Mile International Piano Series is back this season with all of Beethoven's piano sonatas, played by pianists from the UK and abroad on a newly installed Steinway grand. On Monday 26 October it's the turn of Ariel Lanyi, a prizewinner at the Leeds International Piano Competition, who plays Beethoven's Diabelli Variations, thirty-three variations on a simple little waltz. It's an hour long, so it fits neatly before dinner in the Old Town. The recital starts at 6.30pm, tickets are from £15, and it's for ages five and up.
