North Harris Eagle Observatory
Welcome
North Harris has one of the densest populations of golden eagles in Europe.
The observatory is a timber hide with a turf roof at the head of Glen Meavaig. It's a half-hour walk along a good track from the car park on the road out to Hushinish. Inside there's shelter, a bench and a wide window looking up the glen. Outside you may see red deer and mountain hares, and with luck an eagle overhead. White-tailed eagles show up in winter too. It's free and run by the North Harris Trust. Bring binoculars, a flask and plenty of patience.
