Brig o’ Doon
Introduction
Alternately known as the ‘Auld Brig’ or ‘Old Bridge of Doon’, the Brig o’ Doon is a Category A-Listed bridge dating back to the Medieval period. Taking its name from the Scots for ‘bridge’, it’s considered one of Ayrshire's – and Scotland’s – most famous medieval landmarks, appearing on several Scottish banknotes and inspiring the Lerner and Lowe musical ‘Brigadoon’.
