Pitlochry: Getting around

Getting there Pitlochry is exceptionally well connected for a Highland town. Its train station is located right in the centre of town and sits on the Highland Main Line, with direct services from Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Inverness, as well as a sleeper service from London. The town is also situated directly on the A9, the main road connecting the central belt of Scotland with the Highlands.

Getting around The town itself is very compact and built for walking. Almost all the main attractions, including the distilleries, the dam, the theatre, and the main street, can be easily reached on foot. Good walking shoes are recommended to take full advantage of the many trails that start right from the town centre.

Public Transport Local buses, operated by Stagecoach, provide useful links from Pitlochry to nearby attractions, including the stunning Queen's View overlooking Loch Tummel and the magnificent Blair Castle in the village of Blair Atholl, a few miles to the north.

Driving & Parking While easy to get to by car, parking in Pitlochry can be a challenge during the peak summer and autumn months. The main pay-and-display car park is the Atholl Road Car Park in the centre of town. It is advisable to arrive early in the day to secure a space during busy periods.

Electric Vehicle Charging points A network of charging points is available in and around the town. For a comprehensive map and live availability, visit the ChargePlace Scotland website: chargeplacescotland.org.
