Curious corners

It’s 21:43 on Skye.
Isle of Skye
Fairy glens and strange crossings.
Skye has more than its share of curious places, many of them wrapped in stories. There's a glen of grassy cones and tiny lochans that feels as if the fairies made it, and an old stone bridge where dipping your face in the river is said to bring eternal beauty. There's the last hand-turned turntable ferry in the world, still carrying cars across the narrows to the mainland in summer, and a striking mural on a Portree wall painted by a well-known island musician. Together they make for a wonderful, slightly unusual day.

That is everything for today. Tomorrow's first posts go up in the morning. Or have the best of it in your inbox each morning in the Daily.
