When Hendersons, Edinburgh's original vegetarian restaurant, closed on Hanover Street in 2020, the founder's grandson Barrie carried it on in Tollcross.

Barrie Henderson is the grandson of Janet Henderson, who founded Hendersons in 1962. Her restaurant on Hanover Street was an Edinburgh institution and a fixture of the New Town for nearly sixty years, until it closed in 2020. Barrie has carried the family tradition on with a vegetarian and vegan restaurant brought up to date for the 21st century, in Tollcross. The rooms are light and contemporary, and the old lentil lasagne has been reimagined. So the city's original vegetarian restaurant is still in the Henderson family, more than sixty years after it began.
