Scottish Borders

Tweed, knitwear and old jails.

The Borders' museums tell the story of its towns and its trades. Learn how tweed and knitwear made the region famous, explore a jail of the 1820s in Jedburgh, or visit the house where Mary Queen of Scots stayed for a month in 1566. There's a museum in Duns to a Formula One world champion, and free town museums in Selkirk, Hawick and Coldstream. Many are free and run with real pride. Ideal for a wet afternoon.
