Inside Red Squirrel Cottage.

Red Squirrel Cottage sits in the pine woods on the shore of Loch Goil, 75 minutes from Glasgow, with the Arrochar Alps all around. Newly renovated, it keeps its original wood and exposed brick, with an open-plan sitting and dining room and a log burner. There are three double bedrooms, and the main one has an en-suite with a roll-top bath and a walk-in shower. The back of the house can be closed off to make a cottage for two.

Inverlonan, near Oban, is opening a hotel and restaurant in the restored steading at Ballygowan Farm.

Until now Inverlonan has been three off-grid bothies and a wild-dining table in the hills above Loch Nell. Bookings for the steading are open.
