Sagar Massey opened Kalinga at 142 West Regent Street on 22 July. It is his first restaurant in Glasgow city centre, in a unit that spent less than a year trading as Grilled by Ajay Kumar.
His Southside restaurant Angeethi opened in June 2025 and had a Michelin Bib Gourmand inside six months, the first Indian restaurant in Scotland to be given one. Before that he ran Sanja at the Kirkhouse Inn in Strathblane. He has also cooked at Restaurant Martin Wishart and the Isle of Eriska, and reached the final of MasterChef: The Professionals.
Kalinga is doing yoghurt kebab, fermented chilli chicken, tandoori pomfret and a run of biryanis, with Indian wines and cocktails themed on individual states. Massey moved here from India as a teenager and spent two years lecturing part time at West of Scotland College.
