One of Scotland’s last traditional steamboats, the Clyde Puffer SL VIC 32, has secured a £245,537 grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, ensuring it can continue operating as a tourist vessel on the west coast.
Built in 1943 and managed by the Puffer Preservation Trust, the boat has faced repair challenges in recent years. The funding will cover hull and wheelhouse repairs, a new biofuel-powered steam turbine, and a volunteer programme teaching heritage vessel maintenance.
