A race is underway to complete the reconstructed Iron Age crannog on Loch Tay, after years of effort. The Scottish Crannog Centre is restoring and expanding its crannogs, timber houses built on stilts over the loch, following damage from a fire in 2021.

The first of three crannogs is due for completion by spring 2026. The rebuild seeks to recreate traditional building techniques, using locally sourced materials and referencing archaeological evidence.

The original crannog site holds artefacts more than 2,500 years old, and the rebuild will let visitors step into an Iron Age village again.
