Unst Heritage Centre
The story of Britain's northernmost island, and the island's information point.
The Heritage Centre at Haroldswick is where Unst explains itself: the crofting and the fishing, the lace and the Fair Isle knitting, the families and the incomers, the RAF years at Saxa Vord and what happened when they ended.
It doubles as the island's information point, so it is also the place to ask what is open, which boat is running and whether the road to Hermaness is worth it today. There is a shop with knitting patterns and local books. Unst is Britain's northernmost island, and an hour here explains much of what you see on the drive north.
