Tangwick Haa Museum
Northmavine's own history, in a laird's house above the shore.
Tangwick Haa stands above a small bay on the road out to the Eshaness cliffs, a laird's house given over to the history of Northmavine: the fishing, the crofting, the haaf men who rowed out to the deep water, the families who stayed and the ones who went.
It is told in photographs and the things themselves: tools, clothes, papers, the ordinary objects of a life lived hard at the top of Britain. Part of the display changes every year to a new theme, which is why people who live here come back to it. It is run by its own trustees and free to walk into.
