Suidhe Viewpoint

A high viewpoint on the South Loch Ness Trail above the B862 beyond Fort Augustus, with views over South Loch Ness and Stratherrick.

Welcome

Follow the B862 out of Fort Augustus, signposted for Whitebridge and Foyers, and the South Loch Ness Trail starts through a gate on the left and climbs uphill with views of Loch Ness.

Past Loch Tarff, a rocky path rises to Suidhe, the highest point of this section of the trail.

From the top you look over South Loch Ness and Stratherrick. Walkers on the Loch Ness 360 route pass this way between Fort Augustus and Foyers, following the blue signs with a squirrel. From Suidhe the trail carries on across moorland towards Loch Knockie. A well-used path also leads down from the viewpoint to the road and its car park. It is open hill, so bring a warm layer, and keep dogs on a lead between Loch Tarff and Suidhe.
