Polly Kettle

A family tearoom on Burray, cooking from scratch with Orkney produce and selling local pottery and crafts.

Welcome

Polly Kettle is a small white timber tearoom at Ardage on Burray, the island on the Churchill Barriers between the Orkney Mainland and South Ronaldsay, and it is an easy stop on the drive south.

It is family-run and independent, and it wears its motto, Orkney Proud, on its sleeve.

Everything on the menu is made from scratch, with ingredients from Orkney wherever they can be had, and there are choices for most diets. Alongside the tearoom it is a showcase for island craft: handmade pottery and gifts made by Orkney makers, and it is a stop on the Creative Orkney trail. It opens on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 4pm, and is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Afterwards, the beaches and blockships of the barriers are minutes away, and the Italian Chapel on Lamb Holm is just to the north.
