Nielanell
Niela Nell Kalra's knitwear studio shop on the main street of Hoswick in Shetland's South Mainland, with contemporary knitwear finished by hand in the studio.
Hoswick is a small village in Shetland's South Mainland, a short walk from a pebble beach, and Nielanell's studio shop on its main street is a joy for anyone who loves colour and beautiful knitwear.
The designer Niela Nell Kalra founded the business here in 2008. She is a printmaker, dyer and handspinner too, and you can see it in the bold patterns and colours of her collections. Each piece is knitted by craftspeople skilled in machine knitting and then linked and finished by hand in the studio, using yarns from the best Italian and Scottish mills. The shop holds pieces you won't find online, as well as Niela's handspun art yarn. It's open every day from May through the summer and for Shetland Wool Week, and on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays from mid-October to Christmas, and you can book a visit at other times. In summer the café at the Hoswick Visitor Centre is just along the road.

Contemporary Shetland knitwear, pieces found only in the shop, and handspun art yarn.
