Welcome

Glen Scotia is one of the three working distilleries of Campbeltown, the little town at the foot of Kintyre that was once called the whisky capital of the world.

It was founded in 1832, as Scotia, by the town's Dean of Guild, James Stewart, and its provost, John Galbraith, and its white buildings stand in the middle of the town, a survivor of the thirty-odd distilleries that once worked here.

The Loch Lomond Group bought it in 2014 and has since invested in the brand, the warehouses and a visitor centre, and it now runs tours and tastings and has a Victorian-style shop selling whisky and local goods. There is also a guided walking tour of the town that tells the story of Campbeltown's lost distilleries and the people behind them. The distillery opens Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm, with the last shop tastings at 3pm. Booking ahead is strongly advised for tours and tastings.
