“Aghaidh Ris An Achadh: Facing the Field”, an immersive new exhibition by Isle of Lewis artist Fraser MacBeath, opens at An Lanntair on 4 April 2026 and runs through 16 June 2026. The installation examines cultural change and depopulation in the Outer Hebrides, questioning how tradition and community life persist in a world where culture often feels administered rather than lived. Drawing on field recording, audiovisual work and participatory elements, the piece shifts its form based on the number of visitors present, symbolising how culture gains coherence through gathering. MacBeath’s work weaves past and present, inviting reflection on place, memory and collective responsibility.
