Welcome to issue 01

Hello and welcome to Hidden Scotland's first issue of our bi-annual magazine. We are so excited to be extending what we currently do online into a printed format and we really hope that you enjoy reading through the different features that we have included in our Autumn/Winter issue.

Since the inception of Hidden Scotland in 2016, the idea of having a printed publication started to make more sense to us as we grew the brand. The more we immersed ourselves in the places we explored and the more that we developed our online content over time, it became apparent that we required a physical extension of Hidden Scotland to align our beliefs in conscious travel. The connections that we make, and the experiences we gain are extremely valuable, therefore we want to connect to our readers in a way that enables them to actively take time out of their day to sit down, switch off and immerse themselves within these pages.

It was important for the magazine to encapsulate all that we currently do, but to also offer more space to the locations and areas we speak about online, to give a better sense of place. We also took it as an opportunity to extend what we share with you; with interviews and articles on subjects that we may not have touched on before. We also want to encourage you to find use within these pages and hope that the notes pages assist you with your future planning.

Even though a printed format of some sort has been on the cards for a while now, it was the start of lockdown in March this year that gave us the motivation to kick start this dream of ours. With trips and work postponed, it offered us the headspace to get stuck into the ideas and development of the magazine and it has been a labour of love over the past 6 or so months.

As always we have been very fortunate to work with a group of extremely talented photographers and writers to be able to make this a reality. We are forever in awe of their work, and it allows us to tell stories and share information that is useful and unique.
