Wynford Farm Park – Animals, Soft Play and a Farm Lunch

A few hours.

The route

Wynford Farm Park, on the western edge of Aberdeen, is a working family farm with its own Highland cattle and Aberdeen Angus, and it has filled up over the years with goats, pigs, guinea pigs, parrots, meerkats and giant tortoises.

There's animal handling and feeding every day, and when little legs need a change there's a huge indoor soft play barn and an outdoor playground. Lunch, made with the farm's own beef and pork, is in its rustic café. It's a brilliant morning for young families, whatever the weather.

Before you go

  1. Book accommodation nearby

If you are staying over: here are ours nearest where the day starts and ends.

  2. Book Wynford Farm Park

Book Wynford Farm Park's all-day tickets on its website before you go: they often sell out, they're cheaper online than at the door, and they can't be refunded or moved on the day.

The day

    An attraction

Wynford Farm Park is on the western edge of Aberdeen near Kingswells (AB15 8RQ), with its own car park. Book all-day tickets on its website before you go: they often sell out, they're cheaper online than at the door, and they can't be refunded. Out in the fields are sheep, goats and the farm's own Aberdeen Angus and Highland cattle; in the barns are pigs, guinea pigs and fluffy goats, and in the Tropical Wee Beasties shed parrots, meerkats and giant tortoises. Between the animals there's a huge indoor soft play barn with an under-3s area, jumping pillows, go-karts and a digging zone. It's open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm, and every day in the school holidays; in winter the outdoor farm park closes at 4pm. Dogs aren't allowed. The buildings are all on one level, but the paths outside are gravel and grass on a hill. Lunch is in the farm's rustic country café, which you can visit without a ticket. Hot food is served from 10am to 3pm, made with the farm's own organic Aberdeen Angus beef and home-grown pork, and drinks, snacks and sandwiches carry on until about 4.30pm, with a toy shop to browse. On sunny days an outdoor kiosk does barista coffee and soft-scoop ice cream. If it's busy, the kitchen at Marshall's Farm Shop, a few miles north-west near Kintore, serves food every day from 9am to 4pm.

If it rains

Most of it is under a roof: the soft play barn, the indoor animal barn, the Tropical Wee Beasties shed, the play village and the café, so a wet morning still works; only the fields and the outdoor play are out in the weather.
