Mull Museum – the Island's Stories and a Bistro Lunch
A few hours.
The route
Mull Museum is a small museum on Tobermory's Main Street, run by volunteers and crammed with the island's past, from crofting and the Spanish galleon in the bay to the naval base of the Second World War.
Entry is free, and an hour inside is easy to fill on a grey day. Lunch is a couple of minutes up the hill at the Galleon, a family-run bistro whose menu follows what Mull's farms and boats bring in.

The day
Tobermory
A morning in the middle of the town. An hour among Mull's stories on Main Street, then up the hill for lunch, with nothing further to walk than the harbour front.
About two and a half hours

Mull Museum
Mull Museum is on Main Street, in the white Columba Buildings near the bank. The council's free Ledaig car park, at the south end of the town, is 5 minutes' walk away. It opens Monday to Saturday, 11am to 4pm, from late March to the end of October, and entry is free, though it runs on donations. Look for the schooner Neptune II, which drifted for forty-eight days between Newfoundland and Mull in the winter of 1929, and the wrecks and salvage from the bay. Allow about an hour.

The Galleon
Lunch
Lunch is 2 minutes' walk away at the Galleon, up Post Office Brae from Main Street. It's a small, family-run bistro, and the menus change daily with Mull's fish, shellfish, lamb, beef and cheese. Lunch is served Tuesday to Saturday, 12 to 2pm, and it's shut on Sundays and Mondays. Book a table by email to info@thegalleontobermory.co.uk, as it fills quickly. Children and dogs are welcome. If it's full, the Mishnish on Main Street, 3 minutes away, serves bar lunches every day from 12 to 3pm.
If it rains
All of it is under a roof; only the couple of minutes up the brae are out in the weather.
