Misty Isle Boat Trips
An attraction
Misty Isle's boat leaves from the pier at the foot of Elgol, at the end of the single-track road from Broadford. Park in the small free car parks at the harbour or just above it, which fill by about midday in summer, and be at the pier half an hour before sailing; there are public toilets by the pier. Trips run from April to October, Monday to Saturday, weather permitting. The standard trip, three hours with about an hour and a half ashore by Loch Coruisk, boards at 9.30am, 11am, 12.30pm and 2.15pm, and one of the morning boats suits this day out. A two-hour mini trip, with 30 minutes ashore, sails at 9am and 3.45pm. Seals on the rocks near the landing are the likeliest sight; basking sharks, dolphins, porpoises and sea eagles can be seen in summer, minke whales now and then. Watch seals from the boat or the path and keep well back from any hauled out on the rocks. Ashore the ground is wet and boggy: wear boots, and bring a picnic. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, though some need carrying up the metal steps at the landing.
If it rains
The boat sails in rain, but not in a heavy sea: the crew decide on the day. Ashore at Coruisk there's no shelter.
