Arran by Bike – The Coast Road to Corrie
A few hours, from Arran Bike Hire, Shore Road and back.
The route
The coast road north from Brodick is the gentlest ride on Arran, running beside the sea below Goatfell to the little village of Corrie.
Hire a bike by the ferry, pedal out along the shore, and wander Corrie's harbour before riding back. It's a relaxed half day on a bike, with the island's big hills always beside you.

The day
Brodick to Corrie
An easy ride up the coast with the sea on one side and Goatfell on the other, a wander round Corrie's harbour, then the same road back. Bring a waterproof and a snack.

Corrie
An attraction
Start at Arran Bike Hire on Shore Road in Brodick, near the ferry, which hires Giant hybrid and mountain bikes, with helmets and locks included. Book online, or by text or WhatsApp on 07951 342274: from October to March it hires by booking only, and its pick-up hours and prices are on its website. It's about 38 minutes' ride north to Corrie on the coast road, the A841, which the hire sells as a laid-back ride on flat coastal roads. The road is narrow, with blind bends: ride in groups of four or fewer, wear something bright, and pull in to let cars pass. Corrie is a row of white cottages along the shore below Goatfell, with a little stone quay sheltering boats in its harbour. The painter Joan Eardley worked here in the 1940s, drawing the villagers and painting the shore. Walk along the shore and round the harbour before the ride back to Brodick.
If it rains
There's no shelter on the coast road, and its blind bends are no place for a bike on wet roads, so leave the ride for a drier day.
Mara, Corrie, seafood takeaway and deli.
