Aberdeen Science Centre – a Wet Day Sorted
A few hours.
The route
Aberdeen Science Centre on Constitution Street is hands-on science throughout, from an interactive wall of games you play with your whole body to space, energy and how bodies and brains work.
There's no set route, so children run from whatever they like to whatever they like next, and the little ones have a zone of their own. It's the answer to a wet day in the city for families with children of any age.
Before you go
Book accommodation nearby
If you are staying over: here are ours nearest where the day starts and ends.
Book general admission tickets on Aberdeen Science Centre's website before you go; it opens every day from 10am to 4.30pm (shut on 25 and 26 December and 1 January), and a visit takes two to three hours.
The day
Aberdeen
Two or three hours of pushing, pulling, building and testing, with a break for lunch in the centre's café.
About three hours

Aberdeen Science Centre
The centre is at 179 Constitution Street, about 20 minutes' walk from the city centre, and it's open every day from 10am to 4.30pm, shut only on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and 1 January. There's a free car park on site, first come, first served: register the car at the entrance when you arrive. Book tickets online. The zones are The Wall, Energy, Space, Life Sciences, Make It and Test It, with live demonstrations through the day, and the Under 6's Zone has puzzles, mirrors, sounds, coloured shadows and maker tables for the smallest. Allow two to three hours, as the centre suggests. Grub, the café, does breakfasts, lunches, children's choices and cakes, and opens from 8am on weekdays and 9am at weekends. The whole centre is step-free with ramps, and there are baby-changing rooms, buggy storage, a Changing Places toilet and a quiet sensory room if it all gets too loud.
If it rains
All of it is under a roof.
