Findhorn Ecovillage – Timber Houses and the Universal Hall
A few hours.
The route
Among the pines on the road into Findhorn, the Park is an ecovillage of hand-built timber houses that grew from a caravan site in 1962.
This is a wander round its lanes and the Universal Hall, with an organic shop to browse and a vegetarian lunch in the Phoenix Café Bar.

Findhorn Ecovillage
An attraction
Park along the Runway, the Park's main road, once a wartime RAF runway. Timber houses of every shape and colour stand among the pines along its lanes, some with turf roofs and round windows. The Phoenix Shop by the entrance sells organic food, books and local crafts. The Universal Hall, built by the community over ten years from 1974, is faced in stone carved by hand, with a stained-glass entrance and a five-sided glass lantern on its roof. Inside, the all-vegetarian Phoenix Café Bar opens every day from 10am, with lunch from noon: soup with sourdough baked in Findhorn or a jacket potato. Ring 01309 691900 for current hours.
If it rains
