There's a warm thermal pool with jets and water blades, steam rooms, a salt sauna, an infrared sauna and a hammam, with the spa's own café. The Relax and Restore day is two and a half hours of all of it in a robe and slippers, then a two-course lunch. It's an adults-only spa, a good one for a wet day.

The Cairndale Spa
The Cairndale is on English Street, a few minutes' walk from the centre of Dumfries, with a large private car park free for hotel and spa guests. Its spa is on two floors: a thermal pool with jets, water blades and airbeds, aroma and herbal steam rooms, a Himalayan salt sauna, an infrared sauna, a hammam, a rasul and a herbal lounge. The Relax and Restore spa day gives you two and a half hours from 10am, a welcome drink, a robe, a towel and slippers to take home, then a two-course lunch in the Spa Café. It's £129 a person Monday to Friday and £149 at weekends at the time of writing. For later in the day, the Afternoon Tea Spa starts at noon for the same price. Book a date on the hotel's website. You can cancel for a full refund up to 28 days ahead, and inside 10 days the whole cost is charged. The spa is for adults only: everyone must be 18 or over.
