Edinburgh Spanish Film Festival
Edinburgh's autumn gets a taste of Spain and Latin America as the Edinburgh Spanish Film Festival returns for its 13th year.

The World Stone Skimming Championships take place each September in an old slate quarry on Easdale, a small car-free island off Scotland’s west coast. The rules are simple: three throws, stones must bounce twice, furthest skim wins. What started as a local gathering in the 1980s now draws competitors from across the world. Ferries run on demand. Stones are selected from a communal pile near the water’s edge. There’s a barbecue, a bar, and prizes for juniors, islanders, and over-50s. You can watch from the edge of the quarry pool.
