Golf's first Open Championship was played at Prestwick on 17 October 1860, when eight players went round Old Tom Morris's 12-hole links for a red leather belt. For its 175th anniversary, Prestwick Golf Club is bringing that course back for three days, with tee times for visitors. You play the 12 holes in the morning with a forecaddie and sit down to lunch in the Members' Dining Room. Then comes a tour of the clubhouse archives and a second round in the afternoon. Six of the original greens are still in play. It runs from Monday 28 to Wednesday 30 September, for 36 golfers a day at £495 each; call the club on 01292 477404.
