Introducing Hidden Scotland Membership
The growing digital companion to the Hidden Scotland Magazine—offering full access to past issues, weekly stories, mapped-out itineraries, and a personalised feed designed to help you plan, discover, and revisit Scotland at your own pace.
When we started Hidden Scotland, the idea was never just to make a magazine. We wanted to create something useful—something that helped people see more of the country, and gave them a better understanding of what they were seeing.
The magazine became our foundation. But over time, we kept hearing the same questions. Can I read back issues online? Is there one place I can go to plan a trip, without scrolling through dozens of tabs? Can you help me figure out where to start? That’s what led to this.
Hidden Scotland Membership is the growing digital companion to the magazine. It gives you access to every issue we’ve ever made, along with new weekly stories, curated itineraries, a personalised feed, and tools to help you plan your travels in a more thoughtful way.
One of the features we’re most excited about is the Trip Creator. You enter a few details—where you’re going, what you’re into, who you’re travelling with—and it helps you build your own personalised guidebook. You can save places, share your trip with others, or follow one of the pre-made routes if you prefer.
We’re adding to it constantly. New features, new articles, new ways to explore Scotland—whether you’re planning something big or just looking for a good walk this weekend.
If you already subscribe to the magazine, thank you. And if you’re thinking about joining the membership, we’d love to have you. You’ll be one of the first to use it, and your feedback will help us make it better.

What You Get with Membership
We’ve packed a lot into the magazine over the years—but if you’re planning a trip, or trying to find something specific, it hasn’t always been easy to use. That’s one of the reasons we built the membership: to give people a better way to access everything we’ve made, in a format that’s actually helpful on the go.
It’s a growing digital companion to the magazine. Alongside full access to every issue and both of our guidebooks, you’ll find new, regularly updated articles each week—plus themed itineraries, daily quizzes, and a personalised homepage that brings together stories, recommendations, and travel ideas based on your interests and the regions you care about. You’ll also see region-specific updates and news from across Scotland, so there’s always something fresh to explore.
One of the most useful tools is the Trip Creator. It helps you build your own personalised guidebook—based on where you’re going, what you’re interested in, and who you’re travelling with. You can add places, save ideas, share your plan with others, or follow one of our ready-made routes if you prefer.
Whether you already subscribe to the magazine or are just finding us for the first time, the membership is designed to give you more—more tools, more ways to explore, and more insight into the places you care about.

Every Issue of Hidden Scotland Magazine
From Issue 01 through to Issue 10, every edition of Hidden Scotland Magazine is now available to read online as part of your membership. You’ll find the full archive laid out clearly, and every article is mapped to its real-world location—so if you’re heading to Skye, Aberdeenshire, or anywhere in between, you can quickly find stories and recommendations that relate to where you’re going. We’ve also grouped articles by region and theme to make browsing easier—whether you’re looking for walking ideas, slow routes, cultural places, or just want to get to know an area better before you go.

Digital Guidebooks
Our full-length Skye and Edinburgh guidebooks are included with your membership, giving you practical, detailed insight into two of Scotland’s most visited regions. These aren’t just lists—they’re designed to help you understand the place you’re visiting, with mapped highlights, handpicked stops, quiet detours, and honest suggestions for where to eat, walk, and stay. You can read them online anytime, and we’ll be adding more locations over time.

Trip Creator
This tool helps you build your own personalised guidebook for your trip. Just answer a few simple questions—where you’re going, what you’re interested in, and who you’re travelling with—and it will suggest places to visit, stay, and eat. You can save your favourites, build a route, and even share the full plan with friends or family. It’s designed to take the pressure out of planning, whether you’re heading off next week or just starting to gather ideas.

Curated Itineraries
Not sure where to begin? Our growing collection of itineraries is here to help. These are hand-built routes designed by the Hidden Scotland team—ranging from short walking trails and scenic day trips to multi-day journeys across the islands, Highlands, and beyond. Each one includes practical details, mapped stops, and a natural flow that makes the most of your time in the area. You can follow them as they are, or use them as a starting point to shape your own plan.

Personalised Feed
Your homepage updates based on what you’re interested in, where you're going, and what you’ve been reading. It pulls together articles, itineraries, and recommendations related to your chosen regions—plus places to visit nearby and local news relevant to where you are or where you're planning to be. The more you explore, the more tailored it becomes—cutting through the noise and surfacing content that actually helps with your trip.

A New Quiz Every Day
A new quiz goes live every day at midnight—five questions focused on Scotland’s history, culture, places, and oddities. It’s a fun, low-pressure way to learn something new (or test what you already know). Each quiz stays available once it’s released, so you can catch up anytime.

Interesting News & Regional Updates
We share short, useful updates from across Scotland—new openings, exhibitions, small discoveries, local events, or things happening near places you might be visiting. The focus is on what's relevant, not overwhelming. It’s a simple way to stay connected to what’s going on in the regions you care about.

Explore Thousands of Places to Visit
Over the years, we’ve built a collection of thousands of recommended places across Scotland—everything from historic sites and scenic walks to independent shops, cafés, and hidden stops you might otherwise miss. Each one is mapped, categorised, and easy to save to your plan. Whether you're heading to a well-known region or somewhere off the beaten path, you’ll find real, practical suggestions for things to see and do.

Handpicked Places to Stay
We’ve curated some of the best places to stay across Scotland—from design-led cabins and remote bothies to boutique hotels, guesthouses, and self-catering spots that offer something special. Every listing is selected with care, based on quality, character, and setting. You can browse by region or trip type, save favourites to your plan, or see what’s nearby as you build your route.

Save & Organise Your Favourites
As you explore the site, you can bookmark any place, article, itinerary, or walk that catches your eye. Everything you save goes into your personal list—so you can build collections, start trip plans, or just keep track of the things you want to come back to later. It’s a simple way to organise your favourites as you go.
