Stirlingshire
Bracklinn, the Leny and the Arklet Water.
The rivers here come off the Highland edge in a hurry, and their falls are easy to reach. Above Callander, the Keltie Water drops through a wooded gorge at Bracklinn, and white water fills the Pass of Leny, where salmon leap in autumn. At Killin, the Dochart rushes under the old bridge past the MacNab chiefs' burial island. In Glen Falloch a viewpoint reaches out over the cliff edge, and at Inversnaid the Arklet Water crashes straight into Loch Lomond, as it did for Wordsworth and Hopkins. They are at their loudest after a few days of rain, so pack waterproofs and boots that grip on wet rock.
