Charlotte Strawbridge’s Debut Exhibition When Beasts Spoke Opens in Stirling
Contemporary artist and writer Charlotte Strawbridge will present her debut solo exhibition, When Beasts Spoke, at Made in Stirling from 28 March to 10 May 2026, with an opening night on 27 March. Rooted in the Scottish landscape, Strawbridge’s alla prima oil paintings capture fleeting encounters with wild animals, inviting viewers to reflect on the natural world from a non-human perspective. The exhibition is accompanied by palette-knife painting workshops, a children’s writing competition and the launch of an illustrated companion book, offering visitors multiple ways to engage with the themes of observation, storytelling and nature.

'Bullet' used in Bonnie Prince Charlie shooting attempt found in bed
A lead musket ball fragment believed to be linked to an assassination attempt on Bonnie Prince Charlie has been discovered inside the headboard of a bed at Bannockburn House near Stirling. The find adds to earlier evidence of gunfire in the room where the Jacobite leader stayed while recovering from illness in 1746. X ray analysis confirmed the object was an 18th century projectile. Researchers believe the discovery supports long held local accounts that the prince was targeted during his stay, offering rare physical evidence of a dramatic episode in Scotland’s Jacobite history.
