Before you go to ObanPart 3 of 3
Getting around
1 minute read

Getting there Oban is the main transport hub for Argyll and the Isles. The train station sits right next to the CalMac ferry terminal, offering one of the most scenic rail journeys in Scotland via the West Highland Line from Glasgow. The town’s bus station is also adjacent, with regular Citylink services to Glasgow, Fort William, and Inverness.
Getting around The town itself is very walkable. The harbour, esplanade, and town centre are all concentrated in a small area. Be prepared for some short, steep climbs if you want to explore the hillside streets and get to McCaig’s Tower, but the views are more than worth the effort.
Public Transport Local bus services, operated by West Coast Motors, connect the town centre with surrounding residential areas and nearby points of interest like Dunollie Castle and the beach at Ganavan Sands. For travel to the islands, Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) operates all major ferry routes from the main pier.
