Shops and makers
on Arran.
It’s 20:59 on Arran.
Isle of Arran
Arran Blue, island soaps and Machrie knitwear.
Shopping on Arran means things made on the island, or chosen with real care. At Home Farm, a mile north of Brodick, a cheese dairy has a window where you can watch Arran Blue and cheddars being made. Beside it, a red sandstone shop sells soaps, candles and scents made here since 1989 with spring water from the hills. Out on the west coast at Machrie, a family showroom that began in 1967 selling sheepskins is now full of handknitted Arans, jackets and woollen throws. Bring a cool bag if you are carrying cheese home on the ferry.
You are up to date.
That is everything for today. Tomorrow's first posts go up in the morning. Or have the best of it in your inbox each morning in the Daily.
